ENGINEERING INSIGHT
Seat Architecture
Escape is the first Ford vehicle to receive front seats
that conform to a global seat architecture:
• The seats were developed to create a more
uniform fit throughout the world, and remain
comfortable to a greater variety of body types
• The new seat design also helps deliver an overall
reduction in vehicle weight
• Seats are 10% lighter than previous generation
Escape seats, while meeting global requirements
and providing enhanced functionality
• Potential pressure points mitigated by firmer
support and bolsters, thanks to an innovative
mannequin design and extensive blind comfort
evaluation testing
MAKE THE POINT:
Rear Head Restraints
Show your customers how easy it is to fold down the
rear head restraints to help improve rear visibility. To
fold the head restraint, with your thumb or finger,
push the button on the side of the head restraint.
Your customers will appreciate you taking the time
to illustrate this feature.
Bio-foam Seat Materials
• Bio-foam seat padding is utilized in all Escape seats
• Production of soy-based bio-foam emits less carbon
dioxide into the atmosphere and requires less energy
to make compared to petroleum-based foam
Rear 60/40 Split-fold-down Seat Backs
• Second-row seat backs fold to the floor to provide
additional cargo stowage capability
• A simple operation folds the seat backs quickly
– Once the head restraint is folded, a lift of the
handle on the lower side of the seat folds the
seat back down
– Pushing down on the seat back once folded will
confirm that it is locked in place
