Software update

Software update

Updating software

Check the necessity of updating software in FOMA terminal and download some software as
required through packet transmission

*

to update the software.

When Software update is required, the information will be posted in "Notice & Help" on DoCoMo
Internet site or iMenu.

*

Packet transmission for Software update is free of charge.

･

Software may be updated in the following two methods:

･

Software update is available even when the Host selection setting is other than i-mode.

･

Software update should be done with battery fully charged.

･

Software cannot be updated in the following cases:

･

Software update (downloading or rewriting) may take time.

･

If Software update is executed when "ON" is set for PIN code ON/OFF, the PIN code entry screen will
be displayed at the time of automatic reload after completion of software updating. You cannot make/
receive calls and operate communication functions if an incorrect PIN code is entered.

･

Other functions are not available while software is being updated. However while downloading, only
incoming voice-calls can be answered, and also forwarding calls or receive message can be operated.

･

For Software update, SSL session is established to the server (our site). Set SSL certificate to valid in
"Certificate". It is configured as valid by default.

It is recommended that Software update be executed when good signal quality is obtained, three bars
of the antenna icon are displayed and the terminal is not being moved. If radio wave signals become
weaker during software downloading or downloading has stopped, retry Software update in a place
under good radio wave condition.

･

If the software has already been updated, the message "No update is needed. Please continue to use
as before" is displayed when checking Software update.

･

In updating software, the information (such as model and serial number) of your terminal will be
automatically sent to the server (or the server for Software update operated by the company). DoCoMo
will not use the sent information for any other purpose than Software update.

･

Displayed icons indicating that mails are held in the i-mode Center disappears after Software update.
Also if Receive option is set to "ON" and an E-mail arrives during Software update, the screen that
notifies an arrival of E-mail in the i-mode Center may not appear after Software update being completed.
