Observing the ADTS’s Full Scale Rating
The full scale pressure range of each channel of the ADTS is noted on a label on the front
panel of the instrument. The label denotes the pressure range for Ps and for the Qc
channel.
Pneumatic Connections
The following sections discuss each port. All ports are 1/4 inch NPT pipe fittings.
See Figure 3-1. Remove all plastic shipping plugs from the back panel pneumatic ports.
Pressure Supply Port
A single regulated pressure supply source of clean, dry nitrogen or air should be supplied
to the instrument. Shop air should not be used. Refer to Appendix A for supply port gas
purity and pressure regulation requirements.
Tubing must be of at least 1/8 inch (3 mm) inside diameter and of a sufficient wall
thickness for the pressure.
Supply Vacuum Port
A single vacuum pump is required to operate the ADTS. Supply vacuum lines must have
minimum restrictions. Tubing should have a minimum I.D. of 1/4 inch. It is highly
recommended to have vacuum lines with outside dimensions of 1/2 to 3/4 inch.
Additionally, the length of the vacuum hose should be minimized for optimum
performance. It is also very important to install an auto-vent valve to the vacuum pump to
vent the vacuum to atmosphere when the pump is turned off.
To zero the Ps channel, a vacuum pump capable of producing a vacuum level of
200mTorr or less at the sensor reference port is required. See Appendix A for vacuum
pump requirements.
Ps & Pt Test Ports
The device(s) under test is connected to the test port. The ADTS controller is designed to
operate within its specification limits into load volumes from 5 in

to 60 in
3
(80 to 1000 cc). Excessive leaks in the test volume will cause measurement errors in the
device under test and may possibly affect control stability. Tubing connected from the
test port to the load volume should have an internal diameter greater than 1/8 inch (3 mm).

Vacuum Sensor
The ADTS has a vacuum sensor connected to the Ps sensor. This sensor is used to zero
the Ps channel.
