Span function lets you limit OTDR results to a section of fiber
that you define. See Chapter 13.


fibers in a link.

do tests on fiber installations that have short links, many
connections, and possibly large reflections.

Caution
Do not connect PC or UPC connectors to the HDR
OTDR port. Doing so can damage the port’s APC
endface, and the large reflection at the OTDR port
can cause unreliable test results.

