Calibration Security Passcode
The integrity of Product calibration is protected by a security passcode that must be entered before
new calibration constants can be saved to non-volatile memory. This passcode replaces the hardware
calibration switches found on older calibrators such as the Fluke 5522A. As with the 5522A, the
passcode also protects the ability to set the date for the internal real-time clock.
If the passcode is not entered, the Product is secured. Once the passcode is entered, the Product is
unsecured. The Product secures itself when it is reset or when the setup menus are closed. The
Product can be unsecured at any time over the remote interface with the CAL_SECURE command and
by entering the passcode.
The passcode contains 1 to 8 decimal digits. The Product ships with the passcode set to the serial
number of the Product. If connected to a network, Fluke Calibration highly recommends that you
change the passcode from this default. To change the passcode, select
Setup > Calibration >
Change Passcode . The Product prompts for the current passcode and then the new passcode. The
passcode can also be changed over the remote interface with the CAL_PASSWD command.
Make sure to save your passcode in a safe location. If you lose the passcode, the Product will need to
be serviced at Fluke Calibration. See

Features
This section is a reference for the functions and locations of the Calibrator's front and rear-panel
features. Read this information before you operate the Calibrator. Front-panel operating instructions for
the Calibrator are in
Front Panel Operation . Remote operating instructions are provided in the 5560A/
5550A/5540A Remote Programmers Manual at www.flukecal.com .
The front panel features Visual Connection Management Terminals. When you push E , after
entering a value, the appropriate terminals illuminate, whether in Standby mode (Standby) or Operate
mode (Operate). The terminals offer visual guidance for proper cable connections for specific
functions, protect the user by indicating which terminals are active, and protect the Calibrator from
damage from incorrect connections.
