4-2 Special Features
Although the Fiery ZX can store up to 100 FreeForm masters, the printer driver
interface allows you to select bins 1 through 15 only. Using the Command
WorkStation or the Fiery WebSpooler, the operator can override FreeForm Master bin
numbers and reassign them to bin numbers greater than 15.
3. Create the variable elements document.
You can create the variable elements document using a different file, a different
application, or a different computer platform than was used to create the master
document, but the page sizes must be the same for both documents.
4. Print the variable data document to the Fiery ZX with the Use Master print option set
to the bin number you chose when you sent the master document (in step 2).
FreeForm Master bin numbers can be overridden from the Command WorkStation or
the Fiery WebSpooler. Check with the operator to make sure that the bin number you
specify is the correct one for the FreeForm Master you want to use.
If you want to check the job before it prints, instruct the operator to RIP and then
hold the job so that you can preview the rasterized data from the Command
WorkStation or the Fiery WebSpooler.
Printing simulations
You can use the Fiery ZX to proof offset press jobs or to simulate the output of other
print devices by specifying settings for two print options: CMYK Simulation and
CMYK Simulation Method. These print options affect CMYK data only.
The Fiery ZX provides CMYK Simulation targets for the major international press
standards: SWOP, DIC, and Euroscale. You can also create custom simulation targets
using the Fiery Print Calibrator (see the Job Management Guide).
• When printing simulations on the Fiery ZX, choose the CMYK Simulation setting
corresponding to the press standard for which the CMYK data was prepared, or
choose a custom simulation target.
• To simulate the color of a copy made from the copier glass, choose the Match Copy
setting. This setting bypasses Fiery ZX calibration.
Use the CMYK Simulation Method print option to specify the quality of simulation
desired: Quick or Full. For more information, see the Color Guide.
