Troubleshooting
General Print Controller X4(AR-PE1) system error
conditions
When you startup the Print Controller X4(AR-PE1) or when you install system software,
you may encounter error conditions that are not reported during the startup diagnostics.
Table 5-3 lists some of these error conditions and suggests corrective action.
When you first encounter any of these error conditions, power off the
Print Controller X4(AR-PE1) and inspect the inside of the tray for an obviously loose
board or cable. Then check other components as suggested below. For service, see
“Accessing Print Controller X4(AR-PE1) internal components” on page 4-3. When you
are finished, see “Restoring Print Controller X4(AR-PE1) functionality after service” on
page 4-11.

No fan sound and
Print Controller X4(AR-PE1)
does not start up.
Power supply cable connections are
faulty or disconnected.
• Check power supply cable connections to the
motherboard, CD-ROM drive, CPU fan,
HDD, and ZIP drive.
• Check all cable connections and board
connections.
Power supply has failed.
• Replace the power supply.
No fan sound, but the
Print Controller X4(AR-PE1)
starts up properly.
Problem with the front panel fan.
• Check the front panel fan cable connection to
motherboard connector CFAN.
• If the problem persists, replace the front panel
fan.
Buttons do not work on the
Control Panel.
Connection to the front panel is faulty.
• Check the UIB cable connections to the front
panel and IX UIB board. Also check the UIB
cable connection at the front of the tray.
Connection to the IX UIB board is
faulty or the IX UIB board has failed.
• Check the connection between the motherboard
and IX UIB board.
• Check the connection between the two
segments of the UIB cable at the front of the
tray.
• Check the connection between the UIB cable
and the front panel.
• If the problem persists, replace the IX UIB
board
Faulty IX UIB board.
• Replace the front panel.
Problem with the BIOS chip installed
on the motherboard.
• Call your authorized service/support center.
