The drive covers must be removed in order to work on them. To do this, carry out the steps described in section

up to removing the drive covers.
4.3.1
Clamp pieces
The clamp pieces are attached to the drive covers using four socket head screws.
• Loosen the four screws in the clamp piece and remove them.
• If necessary, replace the clamp piece and the threaded pins.
• Place the clamp piece on the drive cover, screw in the socket head screws
and tighten them using the appropriate torque (see table).
Type
Torque

1.0 Nm ± 10 %
DGE-40

Clamping sleeves (DGE-25 and DGE-40 only) and buffers
The clamping sleeves (not included on the DGE-63) are inserted into the drive
covers. Pull out these parts to replace them.
Buffer, push-in (DGE-25)
• Pull the buffer out of the drive cover and replace it by inserting the spare
part.
Buffer, screw-in (DGE-40 and DGE-63)
• Unscrew the buffer from the drive cover and replace it by screwing in and
hand tightening the spare part.
4.3.3
Toothed drive shafts
The toothed drive shaft sits in a loose fit in the drive head with two pressed-on
deep-groove ball bearings and is axially secured by two retaining rings.
Removing the toothed drive shafts
• Remove the retaining ring opposite the drive trunnion.
Note
In the case of toothed drive shafts with two or no drive trunnions, you can
remove any retaining ring.
