2.1 Configuration and addressing
2.1.1 Number of inputs/outputs
Ascertain before configuration the exact number of available
inputs/outputs. Depending on what you have ordered, a CPX
terminal comprises a different number of I/Os.

Note that the CPX terminal also provides I/Os for system
diagnosis (status bits and I/O diagnostic interface), de
pending on the setting of the DIL switches.
The 16 bits of the system diagnosis must be treated like
inputs and outputs. They occupy the word range of sta
tion 1 (16 input and 16 output addresses).
Providing no detailed diagnostic information is re
quested via the 16 outputs of the I/O diagnostic inter
face, the first 8 inputs of the I/O diagnostic interface
represent the status bits.
The maximum possible extension of the CPX terminal is
defined by the maximum number of modules and the set
number of stations.
The I/Os will be assigned automatically within the CPX ter
minal.
The address assignment within the individual modules can be
found in the manual for the relevant module.
