
1.2.7 Operating the machine, working operation
1.2.7.1 Persons in the danger zone
Before taking up work, also after breaks, you should always con-
vince yourself that the danger zone is free of persons or obstruc-
tions, especially when driving in reverse.
Give warning signals, if necessary. Stop work immediately if per-
sons remain in the danger zone, despite the warning.
1.2.7.2 Driving the machine
When displacing/transporting the machine:

Align the conveyor belt straight ahead,
n
Do not activate any work equipment.
n

Make sure that no overhangs protrude into the public traffic
n
Ensure a sufficient distance to the ceiling when driving into a
building
n
Always keep a sufficient distance when passing through sub-
ways, under bridges, tunnels, electric power lines etc. and
when entering into or driving out of buildings
n
If the machine has contacted high-voltage power lines:
– do not leave the operator's platform,
– warn others from coming close to or touching the machine,
– if possible, drive the machine out of the danger zone,
– have the power switched off.
n
If possible, operate the machine while seated.
n
If standing up is required, be extremely cautious. Danger of
falling off.
n
Match the speed to the working conditions.
n
Switch the lights on if the visibility is poor.
n
Do not climb onto or off the machine while the machine is
driving.
n
Change the travel direction only at standstill.
n
Do not use the machine to transport persons.
n
In case of unusual noises and development of smoke perform
trouble shooting and have the fault corrected.
n
Always keep a safe distance to excavation pit edges and
embankments.
n
Refrain from any work that could adversely affect the stability of
the machine.
n
Do not drive on unstable hard shoulders, danger of tipping
over.
n
Check the load bearing capacity before driving over bridges,
cellar roofs, vaults or similar.
n
Leave the machine in case of thunderstorms, danger of light-
ning!
