Setting up to cut:

The Farm Tech Heavy Duty Slasher comes standard with a 3 blade cutting rotor system, for increased
cutting efficiency.  3 blades give smoother cutting and better utilization of horsepower.

Set the front 20mm lower, or in other words, set the rear 20mm higher than the front to allow the retreat-
ing blade more ground clearance to stop it bogging down and trying to re-cut material.

For maximum cutting efficiency it is best to maintain rotor speed at 540 PTO rpm for clean cutting – es-
pecially for grass topping paddocks

Blades:

Check regularly to ensure they swing back correctly and are free of damage that could cause breakage.
Keep blades sharp.  Use a small angle grinder to touch up the cutting edge.

Clutch setting:

The spring pressure must be set to ensure slippage can occur under excess load then take up again.
Continual slippage will burn out the clutch linings and require replacement.  Inspect clutch regularly as
the clutch must work to protect gearbox and tractor PTO drive train. Reset clutch after a long period of
storage.

IMPORTANT: Refer to slip clutch setting instructions.

Chain Guards

The slasher is fitted with hanging chain guards at the front and rear to slow the discharge of grass and
other objects, that may be ejected at speed. Regularly inspect the chains and replace or repair if dam-
aged.

Oil and Grease:

When checking blades, inspect around the centre boss for oil leaks.
The Farm Tech slasher has a steel shroud located around main rotor boss to help protect the seal from
wire, grass etc causing premature failure. Keep this area clean.

Check gearbox level daily by removing small plug located approx halfway up on side of gear box.
Oil should be level with bottom of plug hole.

Do not overfill

as this causes oil pressure to build up and cause oil leaks.

Daily grease trailing wheel kit pivot pins.

Oil Grade:  80W 90 gear oil.

Grease universals regularly, according to use.  Long hours of use require more frequent greasing.
Grease drive shaft when disconnected from tractor, so the angle of the universal can expose the grease
nipple on the clutch end.
