Watchdog Timer
This section describes how to use the Watchdog Timer, including disabled, enabled,
and trigger functions.
The FX5202 is equipped with a programmable time-out period watchdog timer.
You can use your own program to enable the watchdog timer. Once you have
enabled the watchdog timer, the program should trigger the I/O every time before
the timer times out. If your program fails to trigger or disable this timer before it
times out, e.g. because of a system hang-up, it will generate a reset signal to reset
the system. The time-out period can be programmed to be set from 1 to 255
seconds or minutes.
The CD –ROM includes a Watch Dog demo file. In the file, there are 3 execution
programs written in different forms. The sub-directories of the file are:
1. WATCHDOG/ASSEMBLE: Library and Test Program written in Assembly
Language
2. WATCHDOG/TURBOC: Library and Test Program written in Turbo C
++
The WATCHDOG includes a demonstration program established for users who
would like to configure the Watchdog timer by themselves.
Note: In the WATCHDOG/ITE8712 directory, README.TXT file is included to provide
demo program information.
