Monitoring the Rebuild
A disk rebuild can take more than an hour. To monitor the progress of the
rebuild, you can issue the
show chassis diskuse
command to see a
percentage-complete meter. For more information, see RAID Management,
on page 6-1 in the
ARX CLI Reference .
Replacing the Optical Modules
You can hot-swap a 10 gigabit Ethernet optical module in the ARX but you
will be required to reboot the system after swapping out the hardware.
WARNING
Fiber-optic ports must be protected by a rubber grommet filler or a cable
connector at all times to prevent dust from collecting in the transceiver.
The ARX contains two optical modules (located in the data plane) and
designated in the CLI as 2/1 (left) and 2/2 (right) as shown in the following
figure.

The system will notify you of the failure of an optical module through an
SNMP trap. If you receive an e-mail notification of a failure, consult the
ARX SNMP Reference.
You can also check on the status of the optical modules by issuing the CLI
show chassis
command. The following example output from the
show chassis
command shows optical modules installed in the DP (2/1, 2/2)
with a status of
Good
.
