Identifying the faulty hard drive
To identify the faulty hard drive
1. Log on to the command line of the system using the root account.
2. Type the following command to see the status of the hard drives:
tmsh show sys raid array
A disk summary similar to the following displays:
3. Make note of the serial number for the faulty hard drive.
Note:
You can also locate the last seven digits of the serial number
on the front of the drive, and the serial number is printed in its
entirety on the labels on the top of the drive.
4. To ensure that you remove the correct hard drive, you can make the
LED blink for that bay (bay 1 in the above example) by typing the
following command:
tmsh modify sys raid bay 1 flash-led
Note:
The LED continues to blink until the new hard drive begins
the replication process.
5. Before you remove the hard drive from the system, type the
following command to remove the faulty hard drive (HD2 in the
above example) from the array:
tmsh modify sys raid array MD1 remove HD2
Next, you can remove the faulty hard drive and replace it with the new one
you received from F5 Networks.
Replacing the hard drive
To replace the hard drive
1. Remove the front bezel from the unit.
2. Verify that the serial number for the hard drive located in the
blinking bay matches that of drive that you are replacing.
Note:
The last seven digits of the serial number are printed on the
front of the hard drive, behind the metal grill.
