1 Introduction
The ES585.1 K-Line Interface Compact is an ETAS Compact Module for con-
necting a PC to an ECU. The ES585.1 is connected to the ECU via the K-Line
and to the PC via the parallel printer interface. This makes a powerful and
universal connection to the PC possible.
PC-aided calibration can be carried out at the serial diagnostic interface (K-
Line) of an ECU with the intelligent ECU interface ES585.1. The functionality of
the ES585.1 is basically determined by the operating programs of the PC. This
also makes it perfect for all functions to do with operating the diagnostic ser-
vices of an ECU, such as reading the fault memory or programming ECUs with
flash memory.
1.1 Functions/Features
• Powerful interface for K-Line
– In acc. with ISO 9141-2 for diagnostic testers
– Transfer rate: up to 250 kBaud
– Protocols: McMess, KWP2000, Keyword71
• Inputs and outputs to the PC galvanically isolated
• Power is supplied via the connection to the ECU from the onboard
power supply with galvanic isolation
1.2 Applications
The ES585.1 can be used in the following calibration tasks,
if the ECU provides the functions:
• Data acquisition
• Calibrating ECU variables
• Flash programming of ECUs (K-Line)
• ECU diagnostics
