Patient positioning
To perform an examination of the hand-wrist region using the positioner,
proceed as follows:
1 fix the positioner support A or D to the respective coil 2 or coil 3, as
shown in the paragraph above in this document
2 position the positioner supports in the right or left examination
configuration, according to the side of the limb examined, as shown in
the paragraph above in this document
3 attach the plate guide to the positioner support, tightening the two
captive knobs in the relative threaded holes of the guide.
The red dots on the guide must be facing the exterior of the coil.
The graduated scale on the guide must be located on the part of the
coil with the connectors (the coil section that enters the gantry first).
4 insert the coil, with the positioner support and plate guide assembled,
inside the gantry, as described in the chapter “Hand-Wrist
examinations” of this document
5 place cushions no. 1 and no. 2 on the plate, taking care to align the
male Velcro strips on the cushions with the female Velcro strips of the
plate, to guarantee correct fixture
6 open the three strips with Velcro
7 position the limb to be examined. inserting it between the plate and
Velcro strips
8 the middle finger of the hand must be positioned between the hole set
from 1 to 16 and hole set from 17 to 32

9 depending on the size of the limb to be examined, place the pins as
deemed necessary; one pin for each of the six hole sets specified in
the above paragraph in this document.
Forward movement of the hand is prevented - with respect to the plate
- thanks to the two pins on the right and left of the metacarpal joint
of the middle finger (see figure above).
