Chapter 6

There are 6 reference notches spaced evenly on the lock/movement slide.

By positioning the foot setting lock consecutively on each of the reference

notches, the limb can be positioned at 6 different angles, at regular

intervals within the range of 0°÷ 25°.
Cinematic examinations normally start with positioning of the limb in one

of the extreme angles, continuing movement of the limb at the

subsequent angles required.

Procedure for using the patient seat and devices for cinematic
studies

Hand/wrist positioner

Positioner Description

The hand/wrist positioner comprises:

☛

a support (marked

in the figure 6.8), to enable connection of the

device to the hand-wrist coil 2

☛

a support (marked

in the figure 6.8), to enable connection of the

device to the foot-ankle coil 3

☛

a positioning plate (marked

in the figure below) on which the

anatomical region to be examined is placed. The plate slides on a guide

(marked

in the figure below) connected to the base by means of two

captive knobs

☛

dedicated cushions to enhance patient comfort, three straps with Velcro

to immobilize the limb examined, and a set of dedicated “pins” to set the

precise position of the hand/wrist with respect to the device.
