Fingers can be changed individually. The following procedure shows how to change Grizzly
™
fingers (top deck):
a) Unscrew the nut that holds the finger in place (see figure below).
b) Remove the finger (use a punch and a hammer to push finger out from
underneath).
c) On the new finger, make sure that the conical part of the bushing and finger are
free of any paint.
d) Wash the conical part of the finger to provide a better contact surface.
e) Replace finger in the bushing and make sure that the square part of the finger is in
horizontal position (see figures below).
f) Install the taper lock washers and the plastic nuts with Loctite 271. Tighten
between 470 and 490 Nm (350 and 360 ft-lb).
(Keep Loctite away from plastic
surfaces).
g) Hit several times the tip of the finger with a 4.5 kg (10 lb) sledge hammer. This
will push the finger deeper in the bushing.
h) Tighten again between 470 and 490 Nm (350 and 360 ft-lb).
i) Repeat steps g) and h) at least 3 times, until it takes less than 1/8 of a turn to reach
between 470 and 490 Nm (350 and 360 ft-lb).
