10.2 AIR DELIVERY SYSTEM
Problem: Possible Cause: Solution:
Inaccurate
fertilizer delivery
-Metering unit pintle cog
has product build up
-Faulty calibration
-Air leaks from tanks
through lids or metering
units with noticeable
hissing
-Poor quality fertilizer
which forms a cavity over
the meter unit roller
-The meter unit pintle cog
turns unevenly or not at
all
-Fan speed is set too high
-Clean the metering unit pintle cogs
-Recalibrate the metering units
-Allow the fan to run and check that the lids
on top of the tanks are closed and sealed
tightly with no noticeable hissing
-Check that the fertilizer metering units are
tightly sealed
-Make sure that no seals have been
pushed out
-Replace with a more superior fertilizer
-Make sure the pintle cog rotates freely
-Set the fan speed to regulate the air
pressure on the tanks, as discussed in the
manual
Blockages occur
in main hoses
from metering
unit
-Air pressure in the tanks
is set too low
-The use of Urea based
fertilizers together with
LAN based mixtures.
-Product feeding rates is
too high
-Make sure all the lids are tightly sealed
and then set the fan speed higher as
discussed in the manual
-Replace poor quality fertilizer
-Do not use Urea and LAN based fertilizers
together
-Recalibrate metering units.
One or more of
the gauges is not
reflecting a
pressure
-Gauge pipe can be
blocked
-Gauge is faulty
-Disconnect the pipe and blow back into it
to unblock
-Replace gauge
Certain sections
are blocked
-Air pressure is set too low
-Air flow between the main
lines is uneven
-Make sure that all the lids are tightly sealed
and set the fan speed higher as discussed
in the manual
-Adjust to the diffuser to ensure even airflow
