For dual outlet mixer metering units, the upper lines connect to the seed delivery system and
the lower lines connect to the fertilizer delivery system. The mixer boxes allow for fertilizer to
be mixed into the seed lines as a percentage of the total calibrated amount (0-100%)
NOTE: Dual outlet mixer metering units are the standard metering unit for dual delivery system.
8.3 COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
FANS
All fans are driven by hydraulic motors for which the speed is adjusted by the tractor oil flow
rate. For dual fans this allows for a differential air pressure in the seed and fertilizer lines. For
the single fan configuration, differential pressures between the seed and fertilizer lines are
achieved by adjusting the line flow divider in the diffuser (see subsequent sections).
NOTE: Differential pressure in the upper and lower air lines is important to prevent seed from
entering the fertilizer lines on an Air Carts with dual outlet mixer metering units.
Having passed through the fan motor, the oil flows through coolers (one on each fan) which
cools the oil. Thereafter it joins the main return line to the tractor.
IMPORTANT: A pressure relief valve (set at 20 bar) protects the cooler from over
pressurization. If oil squirts out from the relief valve, it is an indication that something is wrong.
Check that the return line is connected to the tractor. Under no circumstances should this valve
be adjusted without the consent of an Equalizer representative.
Air Carts with factory fit Müller ISOBUS control systems come standard with fan speed
sensors which indicates to the operator the fan speed.
