8.2  Opening and Closing the Safety Guard

The safety guard contains a U-shaped handle at the

hinged end. Use this handle to open and close the guard.

A spring-loaded latch pin secures the guard when it is in

the fully closed position. See Figures 3 and 4.
To open the safety guard:
1. Be sure that the cutter is off.
2. Pull the latch pin knob in the direction shown.
3. Open the safety guard.

To close the safety guard:
1. Be sure that the cutter is off.
2. Move the safety guard to the fully closed position. Be

certain that it is secured by the latch pin.

8.3  Directional Lever

The directional lever is located on the left side of the

tool. The lever position determines the piston direction

of travel when the cutter is operated. See Figure 5.

•  Position 1:

Piston advances and moving blade slides

forward.

•  Position 2:

Piston retracts and moving blade slides

rearward.

8.4  Trigger On-Off Switch

NOTICE:

  WARNING

To prevent serious personal injury, be

certain that hands, fingers and other body parts are

away from the cutting area before depressing the

cutter trigger.

A trigger mounted in the cutter grip controls cutter

operation. Pressing the trigger automatically starts the

cutter electric motor. See Figure 6.
•  With the directional lever in position 1, press and hold

the trigger to advance the piston and slide the moving

blade forward. See Figure 7.

•  With the directional lever in position 2, press and hold

the trigger to retract the piston and slide the moving

blade rearward. See Figure 8.

•  Release the trigger at any time to stop the piston and

moving blade. Be advised that there may be a brief

delay until the piston comes to a complete stop.

•  The piston will stop moving when it has reached

either its minimum or maximum extension. To prevent

possible damage to the cutter, do not continue to

press the trigger after the cylinder is fully retracted or

extended.
