Checking Nebulizer Gas Flow (MFC1)
1.
Connect a 0–4 L/min rotameter to the sheath gas outlet (upper outlet) on the
lower-front panel of the gas box.
2.
In the software, go to the diagnostics module and select the Plasma Status/Control
page.
3.
Check that the sheath gas flows are within tolerance. (0–1.5 L/min—increment of
0.1 L/min). The gas flows should be within ±10% of the desired flow.
4.
The nebulizer gas flows cannot be recalibrated. A mass flow controller device
controls these flows. If the flow rates for the nebulizer gas are incorrect, replace
the mass flow controller.

Adjusting Gate Valve
Figure 5-22 - Adjustment of gate valve
If the gate valve’s opening and closing speed is inadequate, make the appropriate
adjustment to the two screws on the upper rail position. Verify that the gate-valve
pressure is also set correctly.
The pressure applied to the gate-valve frame impacts on the force on the O-ring
when the door opens and closes.
Tools:
2.5 mm Allen key
Torque wrench if available, required setting of 0.2Nm
To adjust the gate valve:
1.
Vent vacuum of instrument and once complete turn off main power
Adjustment of an
existing valve:
