Risk of device damage due to aggressive combustion products
When the copper wool is used up, aggressive combustion products can damage the opti-
cal and electronic components of the detection module.

Replace the complete filling of the halogen trap as soon as half of the copper wool
has turned black.

Replace the contents of the halogen trap when half of the copper wool is discolored.

Remove the FAST connectors from the halogen trap and remove the U-tube from the
clamps.
}
Remove the quartz wool plugs.
}
Pull out the depleted copper wool or brass wool from the U-tube with a tweezers or a
small hook.
}
Inspect the U-tube for cracks.
NOTICE! Use only completely intact U-tubes.

If necessary, rinse the U-tube with ultrapure water and let it dry.
}
Fill the U-tube with new copper and brass wool. Replace the entire contents.
Make sure that the copper and brass wool is not compacted too much, but also en-
sure that there are no larger hollow spaces.
