Introduction
Scope of the Manual
This instruction manual provides installation, startup and maintenance instructions and parts ordering information
for the NZ/NZ-M and NZOS/NZOS-M Series pressure-reducing regulators and JP Series pilots. Information on other
equipment used with this regulator is found in separate manuals.
Description
Type NZ/NZ-M is a pilot-operated pressure regulator designed for high pressure transmission, power plant skids, city gate
stations, large capacity gas distribution systems, CNG stations, industrial skids and commercial installations. It provides
accurate and reliable pressure control throughout the flow range. This regulator may be used with natural gas, LP-Gas and
other non-corrosive gases.
Type NZOS/NZOS-M is Type NZ/NZ-M with an integral slam-shut device, which can provide either overpressure protection or
overpressure and underpressure protection by completely shutting off the flow of gas to the downstream system.
Pilot Description
The NZ/NZ-M and NZOS/NZOS-M Series pressure reducing regulators include a JP Series pilot mounted on the main valve.
Types JPLO and JPHO:
Single diaphragm pilot. Type JPLO outlet pressure range of 0.5 to 30 bar / 7.25 to 435 psig; Type JPHO
outlet pressure range of 28 to 65 bar / 406 to 943 psig. The Types JPLO and JPHO can be used as the pilot on single stage
pressure reducing regulators, as the monitor or working pilot in wide-open monitor systems or as the working pilot in working
monitor systems.
Types JPLOW and JPHOW:
Single diaphragm pilot. Type JPLOW outlet pressure range of 0.5 to 30 bar / 7.25 to 435 psig;
Type JPHOW outlet pressure range of 28 to 65 bar / 406 to 943 psig. The Types JPLOW and JPHOW can only be used as the
working pilots in working monitor regulator.
Types JPLOM and JPHOM:
Single diaphragm pilot. Type JPLOM outlet pressure range of 0.1 to 30 bar / 1.45 to 435 psig;
Type JPHOM outlet pressure range of 28 to 65 bar / 406 to 943 psig. The Types JPLOM and JPHOM can only be used as the
monitor pilots in working monitor regulator.
In case of failures, these pilots with single diaphragm will cause a fail open reaction of the regulator.
Types JPLC and JPHC:
Double diaphragm pilot. Type JPLC outlet pressure range of 0.5 to 30 bar / 7.25 to 435 psig; Type JPHC
outlet pressure range of 28 to 65 bar / 406 to 943 psig. The Types JPLC and JPHC can be used as the pilot on single stage
pressure reducing regulators, as the monitor pilot in wide-open monitor systems.
Types JPLCW and JPHCW:
Double diaphragm pilot. Type JPLCW outlet pressure range of 0.5 to 30 bar / 7.25 to 435 psig;
Type JPHCW outlet pressure range of 28 to 65 bar / 406 to 943 psig. The Types JPLCW and JPHCW can only be used as the
working pilots in working monitor regulator.
Types JPLCM and JPHCM:
Double diaphragm pilot. Type JPLCM outlet pressure range of 0.5 to 30 bar / 7.25 to 435 psig;
Type JPHCM outlet pressure range of 28 to 65 bar / 406 to 943 psig. The Types JPLCM and JPHCM can only be used as the
monitor pilots in working monitor regulator.
In case of failures, these pilots with double diaphragms will cause a fail close reaction of the regulator.
All JP Series pilots have an integral 10-micro filter except Types JPLOW/JPHOW/JPLCW and JPHCW.
Types JPXX-P: Remote pressure loaded pilot. Outlet pressure range and function are same as spring loaded type. Maximum
loaded pressure is 10Bar.
Available Configurations
Type NZ:
Pilot-operated pressure reducing regulator for low to high outlet pressure. When dP > 40 bar, it can’t be used as
monitor in Wide-Open Monitoring Systems.
Type NZOS:
Type NZ/NZ-M with an integral slam-shut device for over pressure (OPSO) or overpressure and underpressure
(OPSO/UPSO) protection. When dP > 40 bar, it can’t be used as monitor in Wide-Open Monitoring Systems.
Type NZ-M:
Pilot-operated pressure reducing regulator for low to high outlet pressure. It is used as monitor in Wide-Open
Monitoring Systems.
Type NZOS-M:
Type NZ with an integral slam-shut device for over pressure(OPSO) or overpressure and underpressure(OPSO/
UPSO) protection. It is used as monitor in Wide-Open Monitoring Systems.

The Specifications section lists the specifications for the NZ/NZ-M and NZOS/NZOS-M Series pressure reducing regulators.
Factory specification is stamped on the nameplate fastened on the regulator at the factory.
