Connectrix ED-64M User Guide

Configuring Embedded Web Server Passwords

Introduction

The ED-64M has the same built in Embedded Web Server (EWS)
management tool as the DS-32M and DS-16M. However, EMC does
not support the management of ED-64Ms using only the EWS.
ED-64M management must be performed through Connectrix
Manager and the ED-64M Product Manager.

CAUTION

!

If you choose to configure the ED-64M network IP address to be on
a public network, this could allow someone to attempt to manage
the ED-64M via the EWS. Therefore, if you configure the ED-64M
with a public IP address, EMC recommends that the EWS be
disabled, using Connectrix Manager. If you intend to use the EWS
(even though EMC does recommend and/or support its use), verify
that it is enabled in Connectrix Manager; however, be sure to
change the default passwords of the EWS. (Refer to Configuring
Passwords on page D-5.)

This same caution applies to the CLI (Telnet) interface. (Refer to
Appendix E.)

The Reset Configuration operation will not reset the password of the
Embedded Web Server. (Refer to Resetting the Configuration on page 7-18 for
information on resetting the configuration.)

By using the Connectrix Manager, you do not have do configure the ED-64M
with a public IP. The Connectrix Manager utilizes a private network inside
the Connectrix cabinet to connect to the ED-64M.

Requirements

To use the Web Server, you need a PC platform with Internet access
and either of these browsers:
