Switch on the mains power supply of the EM260 again. The plug symbol in the Main Menu of the
EK280 shows the external supply.

Wait for around a minute for the EK280 to detect the EM260.
7.2.2.2 Parameterization of the analog PSTN modem integrated into EM260
If the order for the EM260 stated that it was to be operated connected to an EK280, the parameterization of
the EM260 was already effected at the factory, so you may skip this section.
If this was not the case, you may parameterize the EM260 yourself later, on location. However, this means
that, with the EM260 housing open, 230 VAC supply voltage must be connected, and only duly authorized
personnel is permitted to do such work.
CAUTION! 230 V alternating current Risk to life!
Parameterization of the modem in the EM260 may only be carried out by personnel suitably
qualified.

For later parameterization of an EM260 for operation with an EK280, you need the USB
parameterization cable ref. no. 73020481 and the program ModemIni V3.50 or later; you may
request this from Elster free of charge.
For parameterization of the EM260 please proceed as follows:

Make sure that the EM260 is initially not connected to a power supply

In the EM260, insert jumper J1 in the lowest position (see operating instructions for the EM260, Section
10 "Jumper").

Connect a USB interface of your computer with the aid of the USB parameterization cable 73020481 to
the modem parameterization interface ST7 on the EM260 board (blue, 2x5 pole pin connector strip on the
left adjacent to the communication module).

On your computer, start the modem parameterization program "ModemIni" (Version 3.50 or later).

Switch on the power to the EM260.
