Connections
4.1
General warnings
IMPORTANT
The end of a stranded conductor must not be consolidated with mild soldering in the
points in which the conductor is subjected to contact pressure. Therefore, it is not permitted to
solder the end of cables connected to the equipment terminals.
If necessary, crimp contacts can be used instead of soldering.
4.2
No mains power
IMPORTANT
Disconnect the mains power supply before making connections to the mains.
In accordance with electrical safety regulations, a suitable isolating device, such as a two-pole
thermomagnetic circuit breaker, not exceeding 10A, must be installed to protect the mains supply. The
mains circuit breaker must have a minimum contact separation of 3 mm.
It is advisable to place the isolating device upstream of the residual current circuit breaker to be able to
disconnect the other sections of the electrical system while maintaining MEDEA system operation.
Figure 48 - Mains connection diagram
All mains-powered devices (control unit and additional power supplies) must be connected to the circuit
breaker device.
The control units in ABS boxes are double-insulated and do not require an earth (PE) connection.
The earth conductor is, however, required for connection to the telephone line via the ILT700 interface.
Metal box control units and the additional power supply unit must be earthed (PE). A 6.3 x 0.8 mm Faston
connector is supplied for this connection.
