3.8.1
SIM card
Important information about the SIM card
The SIM card must be purchased separately from a mobile phone provider. The size is Nano-SIM.
A DATA + Voice SIM card can be used to connect to the control unit via a remote PC or APP, as an
alternative to the LAN.
IMPORTANT
The use of a subscription SIM card is recommended to avoid the problems of
finishing the credit and expiry, which are typical of prepaid SIM cards.
SIM card preliminary operations
IMPORTANT
Before inserting the SIM card into the GSM module, check that it is active and without
any additional paid options that would unnecessarily use up the credit.
In the case of a prepaid SIM card:
•
Check that it has a good credit margin to ensure the operability of the GSM module.
•
Take note of the credit expiry date (typically 12 months after the last credit purchase; in any case,
check the conditions set by your service provider). By setting the SIM card expiry date in the control
unit, you will receive a voice and/or SMS alert message as the expiry date approaches (see
Programming Manual
). You can also receive messages from the telephone operator informing that
the residual credit has reached a given threshold, other service messages (see
Programming
Manual
).
