IRD2
Passive
IR Connection
Block
Introduction
The IRD2 provides a quick and low cost means of interconnecting ELAN
quad mini-plug equipped IR sensors with other IR products in basic IR
repeating systems. It includes a STATUS jack. Current sharing resistors
at each emitter jack allow any combination of single or dual emitters to
be used.
Connections
1. Plug in the IR sensor and emitters as shown in Fig. 2.
2. Plug in the power supply.
3. For a Basic System using STATUS:
Plug a PWR2 power supply into the switched AC outlet on the
rear of an A/V receiver, or other device, as shown. The 12V lead of
the PWR2 is then plugged into the STATUS jack on the IRD2. The
green status LED in the IR sensor will go ON and OFF when the A/V
receiver is turned ON and OFF. This gives a power indication, for
instance, when the equipment is behind closed cabinet doors.
Note:
• Since the IRD2 employs emitter current sharing, you may use any of
ELAN’s IRE1, IRE1D, IRE2, IRE2D, IRE3, or IRE4 IR emitters in any
combination.
