2-points control with hysteresis for auxiliary heating / cooling system
Some heating / cooling systems show a very large response inertia; this is mostly due to the fact that a relevant
part of building mass is involved in the thermal exchange.
In order to improve response time for start-up or ambient temperature transients, auxiliary systems with
substantially lower inertia are used in support of the main system whenever the difference between setpoint
(T
set
) and measured temperatures (T
eff
) becomes significant.
The auxiliary – also called “second-tier” – system, in the initial stage, contributes to heat / cool the environment
and then stops its action when the difference between T
set
and T
eff
is lower and can be addressed by the
system with higher inertia.
The control algorithm used for the second-tier system is the 2-points On/Off control with hysteresis.
Heating mode
When the measured temperature (T
eff
) is lower than the value of the lower threshold (T
set
– ΔT
Offset
– ΔT
hysteresis
),
the device activates the auxiliary heating by sending the relative frame to the proper actuator; when the
measured temperature reaches the value (T
set
– ΔT
Offset
), the auxiliary heating system is turned off by sending
the relative frame to the proper actuator.

sending the relative frame to the proper actuator.
