4.2.1.2 Minimum requirements for every operation
The genset cannot be set up in ideal conditions every time. As a minimum however, the
following conditions must be in place or created for safe operation:
The installation site must be selected taking into account the maximum permissible line
lengths, see
“3.5.8 Electrical connection” on page 85
. The distance to the place where the
consumers are in use must not cause these line lengths to be exceeded.
The installation surface is flat, sturdy and if possible horizontal (for the maximum
permissible incline, see
“8.2 Technical data” on page 115
).
Flammable or explosive material (e.g. fuels, gas cylinders) are not stored close to the
genset or are at least 5 m from the installation site.
Within a radius of approximately 5 m around the genset, there should be no obstacles
that can prevent sufficient ventilation (walls, vehicles, pallets, heat sources etc.).
In all cases it is essential to maintain a minimum distance of approximately 1 m around
the genset so that you can operate it safely in any operational situation.
It must be possible for the incoming and outgoing air of the fan cooling to circulate
unhindered.
4.2.1.3 Operation in closed rooms
Operation in closed rooms is generally prohibited.
This also applies to partially closed rooms such as garages and false ceilings, because
sufficient elimination of the exhaust gases is not guaranteed even with the windows and
doors open.
4.2.2 Earthing the genset
The genset comes as standard with the protective
measure “protective isolation with equipotential
bonding in the IT network” (in accordance with
DIN VDE 0100 part 410). The generator’s star point
is not connected to the genset’s housing.
Earthing by way of the earthing screw on the
genset and a ground spike can therefore only
serve to dissipate static charges. However, the
equipotential bonding conductor (green/yellow)
must be routed and connected to all consumers
without any interruptions.

out by an authorised qualified electrician and have been checked before
start-up to make sure they are effective.
