Installation and Service Guide: Color Controller E-36A

Installing System Software

At the 

Select Flash drive

 window, click the USB flash drive that you attached to the computer, and click 

Next

. 

If more than one USB devices are displayed, make sure to select the USB flash drive that you attached for loading 

the system software. 

A warning message “This USB flash drive will be formatted and all the data in this USB flash drive will be lost.” 

appears. Click 

Next

 to format the USB flash drive and proceed. 

Note:

 

It will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes to format the USB flash drive and load the files on to the drive. 

Do not interrupt the operation.

Once the preparation is done, safely disconnect the USB flash drive from the computer. 

You can use this USB flash drive as a source for system software installation.

Install the system software using the prepared USB flash drive

Using the prepared USB flash drive, you can install the system software to an existing HDD on the E-36A.

To install the system software

Remove all the USB devices that are attached to the E-36A.

Shut down the E-36A.

Note:

 

Disable the power synchronization and shut down the E-36A (for more information, see 

page

 43

).

Disconnect all external cables from the E-36A, except the power cable.

Note:

 

Be sure to leave the power cable connected between the E-36A and the power outlet.

Attach the prepared USB flash drive to one of the USB 3.0 ports on the E-36A.

Start the E-36A (see 

page

 43

).

Allow the E-36A to start.

When the language selection screen displays, select a language.

When “What do you want to do?” screen displays, select 

New Installation

.

When “This installation will erase all data on the hard disk drive(s). Continue?” message displays, select 

Continue 

to install the system software.

Prepare a SATA HDD for replacement

Using Fiery Installer Builder you can prepare a spare SATA HDD and replace the HDD on the E-36A with the spare 

SATA HDD. The SATA HDD will be formatted and the system software will be copied to a recovery folder on the 

SATA HDD. The approximate time required to prepare the SATA HDD is 5 to 10 minutes.

All the data on the USB flash drive will be lost when you format the USB flash drive. Make sure 

that no valuable data is stored on the device.
