6.15  Shut down the pump

Decontaminating the oil before shutting down the pump is recommended; this will

prevent damage to the pump by the contaminates in the oil.

1.

Refer to 

Decontaminate the oil on page 66

 and decontaminate the oil, as required.

2.

Stop the pump.

3.

Close the vacuum system isolation valve (if not already closed).

4.

Close gas ballast (set the gas ballast control to position ‘0’).

5.

Switch off the electrical supply to the pump.
