Effects

 

When you use an effect that has a red icon, such as Page Turn or Alpha Wipe, 

 

rendering must be performed before playback. Go to the bottom of the editing screen 

 

and click the Rendering button to perform rendering. 

 

Also, even when the icon is blue, rendering becomes necessary if you simultaneously 

 

use a compositing effect (Composite FX; 

 

p. 234

 

) at a location where a transition effect 

 

is applied.

 

Portions that need rendering are shown in red on the Timeline Palette's Time Scale. 

 

You can also perform rendering by going to the Sequence menu and selecting 

 

"Rendering." 

 

Performing Rendering Within Only a Selected Range

 

You can perform rendering for just a selected range on the Timeline Palette.

Set an In point and an Out point in the sequence.

 

Follow the steps in 

 

Setting In points and Out points in a Sequence

 

 (p. 282)

 

 to 

 

specify the range by setting an In point and an Out point in the sequence.

Perform rendering.

 

Clicking the Rendering button displays a window like the one shown below. Click 

 

"Selected Passage," then click the "OK" button. Rendering is performed for only the 

 

range you selected.
