Warning
Never look directly at the sun as this can seriously
harm your eyes.
Preparing the binoculars for use
Step 1: Adjusting the eye cups
The eye cups (A) ensure that your eyes will be
at the correct distance from the ocular lenses.
People who wear glasses need to turn the eye cups
inwards and those who do not wear glasses should
turn the eyecups outwards.
If the distance between your eyes and the ocular
lenses is not optimal, you will not see the entire fi eld
of view correctly and you will fi nd it more diffi cult to
adjust the interpupillary distance.
Step 2: Adjusting the interpupillary distance
The distance between both pupils varies from per-
son to person. To adjust this interpupillary distance,
simply turn the two halves of the binoculars inwards
or outwards (D) until a single perfect circle appears.
This means that you should not see dark patches
or crescents on the edges or in the middle of the
image. If you look through the binoculars alternately
with both eyes without moving the binoculars, you
should see a complete, round image with both eyes.
In order to adjust the interpupillary distance prop-
erly, you need to focus on an object reasonably far
away. This makes it easier to fi nd the right setting.
