5.6.4  Neutral Zone Fan Control

Step control




There is no switching of the fan stages in a configurable neutral zone with step control. This neutral zone is 

configurable (parameter 

Neutr.zone F

, see menu 3-2-2-2). The neutral zone has no function for continuous 

control (

speed control, stages combined control, parallel combined control

).

The neutral zone parameter (parameter 

Neutr.zone F

, see menu 3-2-2-2) is only displayed when the fans are 

controlled by a step controller.

Continuous control

When the combined control type of control is active (stages combined control or parallel combined control), the 
neutral zone speed control (parameter 

NZ speed con.

, see menu 3-2-2-2) affects the switching on and off of the 

fixed-speed fans.
If the actual value of the fan controller is within the neutral zone speed regulation, no fixed-speed fan is 
switched on or off.
The enable of the speed controller for the fans occurs when the actual value of the fan controller exceeds the 
setpoint minus half of the neutral zone speed controller. The enable for the speed controller is withdrawn when 
the setpoint has been undercut and the speed = Min. speed (starts with Min. speed + Offset). 
The enable for the speed controller is withdrawn when the setpoint is undercut and the speed = Min. speed 
(starts with Min. speed + Offset). 

The neutral zone speed control parameter (parameter 

NZ speed con.

, see menu 3-2-2-2) is only displayed 

when the fan is continuously regulated.

5.6.5  Control Algorithm tG with Step Controller

The gas cooler outlet temperature measured via an A/D converter is compared with the setpoint. The following 
applies:

In the case of positive control error and increasing gas cooler outlet temperature, the step switch switches 
forward one stage. This means that an additional gas cooler capacity stage is enabled. In the case of negative 
control error and reducing gas cooler outlet temperature, the step switch switches back one stage. This means 
that a gas cooler capacity stage is disabled.
Gas cooler capacity stages are also disabled (provided this is selected via the parameter 

Fan off w/comp

(menu 3-3-1)) when all compressors are switched off.

5.6.5.1  Switching Times for Fan Motors with Step Controller

If the gas cooler outlet temperature rises or falls to a value outside the neutral zone, the first gas cooler capacity 
stage is immediately switched on or off.
