4.5.7 Control algorithm for parallel combined control type of control
The speed controller regulates the speed of all fans connected in parallel that can be switched on or off
individually. Depending on the expansion stage of the controller, the following maximum numbers of fan stages
can be controlled for the regulation:
Controller in the base module: 3 fan stages
Configuration with one SIOX extension module: 7 fan stages
With fan combined control, the possible fan configuration, depending on the expansion stage, is accordingly
one fan less than with step control. This is due to the fact that the fan output after the last configured fan output
(No.Cond.Stages XX, menu 3-1) is used for the switching to the operation by power supply:
In the case of a positive control error, the speed controller is enabled via the first fan capacity stage F1 of the
pack controller. The calculation of the control signal for the condenser speed is performed using a PI control
algorithm ans is output to the speed controller via the first analogue output (0..10 V, terminals 53/54).
The input signal for the first to the last but one fan stage is limited to the specified minimum speed plus 50% of
the maximum input signal. If a stage reaches this threshold, a further capacity stage is loaded after a time
delay. The input signal for all now loaded fans is calculated according to the following formula:
This produces a condenser capacity that approximately corresponds to the capacity before the loading of the
fan. If the last fan stage is loaded, the input signal can achieve its maximum value. Fans which have been shut
down via the motor overload cutout will be ignored by the controller. If the pressure has reached a specified
HP threshold (parameter tc-max. menu 3-2-1), operation by power supply is activated with the stage No. cond.
1. The speed controller is disabled during operation by power supply. Afterwards, all fans are
disconnected from the speed controller and activated on the mains power supply.
The following diagram shows the speed sequence for starting using the example of a system with five fans:
