Maintenance and care

Shredder blade

1. With engine stopped, remove spark plug wire, remove vac-

uum tube from unit.

2. Remove accumulated debris from blade and inspect for

damage.

3. Install vacuum tube. Refer to "Install vacuum tube and Install

bag"(page 14) in assembly section for correct assembly pro-
cedures.

Check spark plug

Tools required: T-Wrench, Feeler gauge
Parts required: Spark plug

1.  Check plug gap. Correct gap is 0.6 mm to 0.7 mm.
2.  Inspect electrode for wear.
3.  Inspect insulator for oil or other deposits.
4.  Replace plug if needed and tighten to 15 N·m - 17 N·m (150

kgf·cm to 170 kgf·cm).

DANGER

Never remove vacuum tube or open fan guard when
SHRED'N'VAC

is running or serious personal injury

may result. Always wear heavy-duty work gloves
when working in shredder blade area.

IMPORTANT

Do not operate SHRED'N'VAC

if shredder blade is damaged

or broken. Return unit to Echo Dealer for service.

Use only NGK BPMR8Y spark plug otherwise severe engine
