Connecting to the AC Supply
•
Ensure that any upstream Residual Current Devices (RCDs) are appropriately
rated for the rectifiers' maximum earth leakage current (see Specifications on
page
for value).
•
Only use a three-phase (
Δ
) ac source that is referenced to earth, or has a
protection system in place to prevent the phase-earth voltage exceeding the
rating of the rectifier.
Terminating the AC Supply Cable at the AC Distribution
The type of ac distribution fitted will be either:
•
ACT-000
- no rectifier ac circuit breakers, or
•
ACT-100
- with rectifier ac circuit breakers.
Step 1 - AC conductor size
Use the following number and size of conductors according to the type of ac
distribution fitted, ac supply voltage and maximum ac input current (see
Specifications on page
).
208-240V ac, 3W+PE
220-277/380-480V ac, 3W+N+PE
ACT-000
4 x 4AWG
2 x 3AWG
ACT-100
2 x 1/0AWG
1 x 2/0AWG
Step 2 - Terminate conductors
The following diagrams show the termination points of the ac supply cables.
1
Connect the three phase conductors and (if used) the neutral conductor, to
the L1, L2, L3 and N terminal blocks.
It is recommended to strip the insulation back approximately 7mm (¼
inch) and crimp a ferrule over the bare conductor ends. For each of the
conductors, ensure that the ferrule fits over all the strands of wire.
2
Connect the protective earth conductor to the earth stud or terminal.
Ensure that the ac supply earth conductor is 30-50mm (1¼ - 2 inches)
longer than the live conductors (L1, L2, and L3.)
