4.1 Close-coupled Ampgard arc resistant MVCC and Eaton
VacClad switchgear.
Ampgard AR can be close-coupled to arc resistant VacClad switch-
gear in a single lineup. Arc resistant VacClad may vary in depth
from 96 to 120 in. (243.84 to 304.80 m) depending on the options
picked. A 4 in. (10.16 m) transition section is required on the
Ampgard AR end and a 36 in. (91.44 m) transition section is required
on the VacClad end. When installing the lineup, the Ampgard AR
section must be attached to the switchgear before the plenums are
installed.
Follow the instructions below for coupling the Ampgard AR lineup to
the VacClad switchgear.
1. Position the Ampgard AR lineup next to the switchgear, lining up
the threaded holes in the 4 in. (10.16 m) wide transition section
with the mating holes in the side sheet of the switchgear.
2. Ensure the two structures are level relative to each other and are
mated together firmly.
3. From inside the switchgear section, the threaded holes in the
Ampgard 4 in. (10.16 m) transition section should be clearly
visible and well-aligned.
4. Install 3/8 in. hardware with lock washer and extra-wide (1.5 in.
O.D.) flat washers into each of the threaded holes, 12 places
total. Torque per
