General information
•
Stale or dry bread will toast faster than fresh bread. Part-wholemeal or brown bread will require a higher
browning setting than white bread.
•
Do not put exceptionally thick or large slices in the toaster because they could jam. The best results will be
achieved by using commercially-sliced bread designed for toasting.
•
Unplug the toaster from the mains socket if you believe it is faulty or requires cleaning.
Slices of bread that have jammed inside the toaster can be removed with a blunt
wooden tool, such as the handle of a wooden spoon. Always unplug the toaster from
the mains before attempting this. You could receive a fatal electric shock if you put
your hands or other objects into the slot of a toaster that is connected to the mains.
Never touch the heating element of the toaster when trying to free a slice of bread. If
you are unable to remove any food stuck inside the toaster, take the appliance to a
specialist engineer.
•
Browning time depends on the type, thickness and moisture content of your bread. For consistent browning,
use a single type of bread and keep it in a sealed packet.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Warning! Before cleaning, always switch off the appliance and remove the power cable
from the mains socket. Wait for the appliance to cool completely before you start
cleaning. Never immerse it in water or place it under running water.
1. Remove the plug from the mains socket.
2. Let the appliance cool down completely before you start cleaning.
3. Clean the outside cover of the appliance with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth and then wipe the cleaned surfaces
with a dry lint-free cloth. Take care not to allow any moisture inside the cover. Let the appliance dry
completely before re-using or storing it.
4. Never use solvents (acetone, benzene, petrol, alcohol etc.) to clean the device because these materials could
dissolve the cover or damage the internal components. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
5. To remove any crumbs, open the crumb tray and empty it, then wipe the tray and close it again. Remove the
crumbs from your toaster regularly to avoid unpleasant smells and the risk of fire. Only empty the crumb tray
when the toaster is unplugged and has cooled down.
6. If you do not plan to use the appliance for a while, put it in a plastic bag and store it in a dry, dust-free place.
The toaster should only be packed away when it has cooled down completely and has been cleaned.
