This kit contains a microcassette recorder, tape, batteries, and a TLP-102 recording adapter.
With this kit, you may record both sides of a telephone conversation on home or business
telephones. Use this kit with single or multiline, analog or digital; almost any phone with a
handset that connects to the phone with a modular connection. Not compatible with cordless,
cellular, pay telephones and some GE phones. Not for use with phones with the dial pad in
handset. The connection is simple:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (See diagram on back page)
1
Insert the batteries and tape into the tape recorder. Refer to recorder manufacturer’s
instructions.
2
Unplug the coil cord from the base of the phone and plug it into the modular jack on the
TLP-102.
3
Plug the TLP-102 cable with the modular connector into the phone base where the coil cord
was plugged.
4
Plug the TLP-102 cable with the 3.5mm plug into the MIC jack on the tape recorder.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
5
Set the tape speed selector. 2.4 (recommended) gives better voice quality, or 1.2 uses less
tape.
6
Make a phone call to test the setup. Push the REC button. Adjust the VOL during the call
to see where the best quality voice recording is made. The recorder may be stopped and
played back during the call to evaluate the settings.
7
The recorder may be stopped and started any time during the call, or paused using the
PAUSE slide switch. During playback, adjust the VOL as needed, remembering to reset it
for recording.
8
The recorder features a voice control mode (V-Sensor) commonly referred to as VOX. In
this mode, the tape will not move until a voice is sensed. VOX mode is activated by sliding
the V-SENSOR switch to the ON position. Set the VOL to minimum and push REC during
your test phone call. When both parties are quiet, the tape will stop after a few seconds.
Sound from either party will restart the tape. The voice switching sensitivity can be
increased by adjusting the VOL lower.
