Caution on security codes
Q
You should avoid using the numbers for security codes such as
denoting your birth date, part of your phone number, local address
number, room number, “1111” or “1234” that is easily decoded by a
third party. Also make sure that you take a note of the security codes
you have selected just in case you forget them.
Q
Take care not to let others know your security codes. If your security
codes are known and used by a third party, we at DOCOMO take no
responsibility in any event for the resultant loss.
Q
If you do not remember your respective security codes, you need to
bring an identification card such as your driver’s license, the FOMA
terminal and UIM to the handling counter of a docomo Shop. For
details, contact “General Inquiries” on the back page of this manual.
Q
The PIN unblocking key (PUK) is described on the application form
(your copy) that is handed over to you at a docomo Shop at the time
of contract. If your contract has been made at a shop other than a
docomo Shop, you need to bring an identification card such as your
driver’s license, and the UIM to the handling counter of a docomo
Shop, or contact “General Inquiries” on the back page of this manual.
Network Security Code
This is a four-digit number required for your identification when
you place an order at a docomo Shop or docomo Information
Center, or when you use network services. This number is
determined at the time of contract and you can also change the
number later by yourself.
If you have “docomo ID/password” for the general support site for
PC users “My docomo”
*1
, you can set a new network security code
from a PC.
PIN1 Code/PIN2 Code
Two security codes are provided for the UIM, namely the PIN1 code
and PIN2 code. These security codes are set to “0000” by default, but
you can change the numbers later (
z
Z
page 66).
The PIN1 code is a four-to-eight digit number (code) for checking the
user each time the UIM is installed or each time the FOMA terminal is
turned on, to prevent the unauthorized use by a third party.
You can make/receive calls and operate the terminal by entering the
PIN1 code.
Q
If you use a UIM that you used for another FOMA terminal in this
FOMA terminal, enter the PIN1/PIN2 codes you set for the old
terminal. The codes are “0000” if you have not changed them.
Q
If you fail to enter PIN1/PIN2 code correctly three times in succession,
PIN1/PIN2 code is locked and disabled. In this case, unlock the PIN1/
PIN2 lock with “PIN unblocking key”.
PIN Unblocking Key
The PIN unblocking key (PUK) is the eight-digit number for
releasing the blocked PIN1 code and PIN2 code. You cannot
change this PIN unblocking key by yourself.
Q
If you fail to enter PIN unblocking key (PUK) correctly ten times in
succession, the UIM is locked. In this case, contact a docomo Shop.
