7. Service and maintenance
Good maintenance is your responsibility.
Poor maintenance is an invitation to trouble.
Follow good practices
• Keep service area clean and dry.
• Make sure sockets and tools are grounded.
• Use appropriate lights for the job.
• Never
work
under the machine unless it is securely blocked.
• Always
use
personal protective devices such as safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection
when performing service or maintenance on the chipper. Wear heavy-duty gloves when
handling sharp components.
•
Where
spare parts are necessary for periodic maintenance and servicing, original spare parts
must be used. DK-TEC is not responsible for damage caused by unapproved parts and/or
accessories.
• Have a fire extinguisher and first aid kit easily accessible while performing maintenance on
Chipper.
• Tighten all bolts, nuts and screws periodically and ensure that the machine is in a safe condition.
• Upon completion of maintenance or service, make sure all safety guards are fitted
Grease
• Lubricate bearings with grease
Storage of lubricants
• The chipper can run efficiency only if clean lubricants are used. Use clean containers to
handle all lubricants.
Store them in an area protected
from
dust, moisture and other
contaminants.
Lubrication
1. Use a handheld grease sprayer for lubrication.
2. Wipe the grease nipples with a clean cloth before lubrication, to avoid injecting dirt and gravel.
3. Replace and repair broken fittings immediately.
4. If fittings will not take grease, they
are
thoroughly cleaned.
Service intervals
• The recommended service intervals are based on normal operating conditions.
Severe or
unusual circumstances may require more frequent lubrication or oil changes.
