Accelerometer Sensor Menu
Important:
The Accelerometer Sensor Menu will only be displayed when a
G-Force sensor enabled Interface Box is attached to the DVM. The
Accelerometer (G-Force) sensor measures the force that the Interface Box
experiences in a Vehicle where 1G is 32 ft/sec
2
or 9.8 m/sec
2
.
Reset Max G Reading
Press the ZOOM/2 button to reset the maximum G force reading since
the last time DVM was turned on or since this setting was reset.
Reset Max G Since Menu Start
Press the ZOOM/2 button to reset the maximum G force reading since
the last Menu Mode was entered or since this setting was reset.
Set Zero G Reference
Before using the Accelerometer Sensor, the Zero G Reference needs to
be set. To properly configure the sensor, the vehicle must be stationary
and on level ground. Press the ZOOM/2 button to Set Zero G
Reference.
Current Relative G Reading
The dynamic force sensed by the G-Force sensor. This value can help
an installer determine the best setting for the Exceed Accelerometer
Limit option in the Record Triggers Menu (page 22) by showing the
force measured when the vehicle’s trunk lid or door is slammed shut.
Trigger Threshold in G:
Displayed value is read from the Exceed Accelerometer Limit (EAL)
option located in the Record Triggers Menu (page 22), and displayed in
the following manner:
•
OFF (EAL is set to 0.0)
•
0.5 to 5.9 (EAL is set to a value between 0.5 to 5.9)
This value represents the maximum force that a vehicle can experience
before a recording is triggered on the DVM. If this value is set too low,
then a recording may be triggered when common tasks are performed
(such as slamming shut the door or trunk lid on the vehicle).
