Command Mode 

Interface Configuration (Ethernet - Ports 21-24/45-48)

Example

This forces the switch to use the built-in RJ-45 port for the combination port 21.

shutdown 

This command disables an interface. To restart a disabled interface, use the 

no

form.

Syntax

Default Setting 

All interfaces are enabled.

Command Mode 

Interface Configuration (Ethernet, Port Channel)

Command Usage 

This command allows you to disable a port due to abnormal behavior
(e.g., excessive collisions), and then reenable it after the problem has been
resolved. You may also want to disable a port for security reasons. 

Example 

The following example disables port 5.

switchport packet-rate

This command configures broadcast, multicast and unknown unicast storm control.
Use the 

no

 form to restore the default setting.
