The RS- 485/ 422 prot ocol provides a solut ion for w ired com m unicat ions t hat can t oler at e high
noise and push signals ov er long cable lengt hs. RS- 485/ 422 signals can com m unicat e as far as
4000 feet ( 1200 m ) . RS- 232 signals ar e suit able for cable dist ances up t o 100 feet ( 30.5 m ) .
RS- 485 offer s m ult i- dr op capabilit y in w hich up t o 32 nodes can be connect ed. The RS- 422
prot ocol is used for point - t o- point com m unicat ions.

When using Et her net t w ist ed pair cabling: Select w ir es so that T+ and T- are connect ed to
each w ir e in a t w ist ed pair . Lik ew ise, select w ir es so t hat R+ and R- are connect ed t o a
t w ist ed pair . ( For ex am ple, t ie t he gr een and w hit e/ green w ir es t o T+ and T- .)
