FEATURE DEFINITION
Instantaneous Mass
Mass as directly output by the balance with the format specified in the balance setup.
Corrected Mass The AutoZero and buoyancy corrected instantaneous mass.
Starting Corrected Mass The corrected mass value when the accumulation was started.
AutoZero Correction
The AutoZero correction that represents the drift of the balance. A count down to the
left of this field displays the time to the next AutoZero when timed AutoZero operations
are active.
Mass Span Correction
The mass span multiplier. In addition to the buoyancy correction, mass span multiplier
is applied to the Instantaneous Mass to get the Corrected Mass. The value remains a
constant throughout a test unless the
<Zero and Span balance> option is selected
from the Control Toolbar on the GFS Run Screen.
Cylinder Pressure
The calculated gas pressure in the reference gas cylinder. The pressure is based on
the cylinder properties specified in the Reference Cylinder Editor, the current total mass
of the cylinder, and the current Calibration Gas.
Depleted Mass/Time The difference between the corrected mass (g) and starting corrected mass over the
elapsed time (s). Dividing these two numbers results in the current mass flow in mg/s.
Flow Flow determined by the depleted mass divided by the elapsed time in the current flow
unit of measure.
Best Fit Flow
The running Best Fit flow of the balance. The value is Not the <Average Flow> flow
and will only compare to the average flow when the flow is very stable. The values are
calculated as though the “Y” axis were depleted mass and the “X” axis were
corresponding elapsed time. Each new balance output generates a new point on the
plot, new depleted mass and corresponding elapsed time. The best fit of all data on
the plot forced through zero yields a slope that is the mass flow.
This field should be ignored when an AutoZero takes place during an
accumulation. The AutoZero correction typically results in a mass change in a
short amount of time. This value unfairly biases the running best fit.
Rolling Avg Flow The flow determined by the rolling average of the <Flow> value. This value is logged
in the data file as the Reference Flow and displays as the <GFS Flow> on the GFS run
screen. The duration of the rolling average is controlled by the GFS Tools
configuration.
Accumulated Mass The accumulated mass of the balance. The value here is identical to the mass value in
the
<Depleted Mass/Time> field. The information is repeated here for convenience.
