ENTER REFERENCE GAS CYLINDER DATA
Before making measurements, it is necessary to enter the technical data for each reference
gas cylinder assembly you have into GFS Tools software. This data can be found on the
technical data sheet that is delivered with each cylinder. Some of the data will be unique to
each cylinder so failing to enter the correct data can result in errors in the air buoyancy
correction that is made.
In GFS Tools, use the
[Setup][Reference Gas Cylinder]
menu choice to access the
Reference Cylinder Editor
. Fill in the Header Information and Cylinder Characteristics.
See Section 5.5.5 for details on the GFS Tools Reference Cylinder Editor. The Cylinder
Characteristics can be found on the Cylinder Technical Data sheet provided for each
cylinder.
3.3.9
INSTALLATION OF REFERENCE MASS ON MASS PLATE
Locate the reference mass and the AMH reference mass plate (the AMH plate with NO
bubble level on the top surface). The reference mass MUST be installed with the side etched
with the nominal mass and mass serial number facing AWAY from the AMH reference mass
plate so that these identifiers are plainly visible once installation is complete and the legs will
maintain the proper distance between the reference mass and AMH plate. The mounting
legs are indexed similar to the reference gas cylinder, two of the legs have a spherical curve
at one end and one has a flat. The legs with the spherical curve need to be mounted so they
correspond to the chamfer and groove brass inserts in the AMH plate. The leg with the flat
end corresponds to the flat brass AMH plate insert.
Figure 18.
Reference Mass Legs (Spherical (x 2) and Flat)
Invert the AMH plate painted side
down on a flat surface, taking care
not to damage the painted surface.
Padding or cloth of some kind would
help keep the surface from damage.
