3.3.4 SETUP MFC-CB
Place the MFC-CB on a workbench, shelf, or on top of the enclosure so that the MFC
cable can comfortably reach a mass flow controller in the system flow path near the
device under test.
Connect a 9 pin D-sub cable from the COM1 port on the rear of the MFC-CB to one port
of the system controller’s USB serial adaptor.
Connect the power cord to the MFC-CB rear panel.
3.3.5 SET UP THE SYSTEM CONTROLLER (PC)
The system controller is a standard personal computer with flat screen display, keyboard and
pointing device. These may be installed on the laboratory work surface near the GFS draft
enclosure. It will help to have the PC within a close proximity to the rest of the system since
there are at least two serial connections between the system controller and other
components in the GFS system (via the USB serial adaptor).
GFS Tools software must be installed on the system controller and in general will be pre-
installed by DHI.
Connect the USB serial adaptor to any convenient USB port on the system controller.
Serial connections for GFS2102 system
Use 9 pin D-sub cables to connect the following:
•
Any COM port (COM1 is preferred) of USB serial adaptor to LCM COM1 port
•
COM 2 port of LCM to COM port of GFS balance
•
Any COM port of USB serial adaptor to MFC-CB COM 1 port
•
Use any remaining COM ports of the USB serial adaptor to connect to DUT serial
connection, for example a molbox1 COM1 port.
3.3.6 VERIFY GFS CALIBRATION DATA
Certain calibration coefficients are stored in either the LCM, the TH probes or GFS Tools
software, all of which should be verified to be correct before making measurements.
Regardless of location, all coefficients can be viewed in GFS Tools by selecting the
[Setup][Calibration] menu choice to access the Calibration Editor (see Section 5.5.7).
Verify/enter the following data:
On the Time/Mass tab, verify that the Reference Mass and Reference Mass density field
entries match the data in the most recent reference mass calibration report. This mass
value must be manually entered into GFS Tools each time the Reference Mass is
recalibrated.
On the Ambient tab, verify that the Ambient Pressure, PRT Temperature (if used), and
ambient Humidity calibration data match the most recent LCM calibration report. These
values are stored in the LCM and are read automatically from LCM into GFS Tools.
On the TH Probe #2 and TH Probe #3 tabs, verify that each set of data matches the TH
probe data in the most recent LCM calibration report. This data is stored inside each
individual TH probe and is read by the LCM and into GFS Tools. The probes must be
connected to the LCM to access the data.
